Takht Jathedar Sant Baba Kulwant Singh had suggested that the Gurudwara Takht Shri Hazoor Sahib, one of the Five Takhts of Sikhism, should be using all of it’s gold collected over the last 50 years to build Hospitals & Medical Colleges.

On Saturday, Vice President of Takht Hazur Sahib, GS Bawa confirmed the decision and said, "We have already started a Covid centre at Gurudwara Huzur Saheb which is already serving people. Now we have planned a large-scale medical college and hospital also."

"We have arranged a plot and finances for the same and we are waiting for the restrictions to get over. We know that it is a costly project but we are ready with our resources and finances," he added.

Bawa confirmed that the gold which has been received at the gurudwara as an offering will be used for constructing the hospital.

"We have decided to use the gold which we have received as offering in past years but only monetizing that gold of around Rs 25 crore will not be enough and we are having other resources for finance also so funding will not be an issue for us once the project goes on the floor. Sikh community will help us in all ways possible," said Bawa.

Jathedar said that currently Sikhs have to run to Hyderabad or Mumbai for treatment. He proposed that such hospitals be built here that people would have to come from outer states to get treatment.

He said, “We have put a lot of gold on buildings and Gurdwaras. Now we should make and ready Gursikhs...the schools should provide excellent education and the Gursikhs should hold high positions..such that Sri Kalgidhar Patshah will be pleased seeing the Khalsa reach these positions. It is my thinking that a hospital or medical college should be built.”

“Whenever the world is troubled the Khalsa stands up, providing langar (free meals) in place after place and meeting whatever needs arise,” he added.
