Punjab: India's Bread Basket
Punjab with its rich cultivating lands has traditionally been an agrarian society since the time of the ancient Harappan Civilization. Punjab is also called "The Granary of India" or "The Bread Basket of India," as it produces 1% of the world's rice, 2% of India’s wheat. The geographical position of the Punjab benefits from soil and climate, immense fertile plains and abundant water-supply which leads to good cultivation.
